GIFTINGS

I find that am often dumbfounded by life. I think this fact is reflected in my work. In life, however, there are always those things that offer a counter-balance. I experience a phenomenon I call "gifting." This is where people will, out of the blue, mail me goodies.

The BEST part of this (besides getting the goodies) is seeing what reminds them of me! The following photos are some of the things I have received, in some way shape or form, in the past month.

I often say that I am humbled by people. Well ... that is because I am. I can't begin to thank people ENOUGH for kind words and gestures. I can only pay-it-forward. So look out - it was a BUSY month!

THE GIFTINGS:

I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM BECAUSE I GAINED 20 POUNDS!
(So worth it!)

I mentioned in a past blog that BEN & JERRY'S was sometimes the only thing keeping me this side of sanity. I received a package of a half dozen flavors. I learned that dry ice keeps ice cream quite nicely. I learned that I can eat a pint a day and so I did. It was an exceptionally GOOD and SANE month.

Thank-you for the ice cream! I'm not sure how I feel about the extra weight ...

LOOK AT HIS BUNS!
I was also blessed with some of my own artwork donning this fantastic hoodie! The hoodie is SO SOFT. The superhero on the front is Todd Hanebrink of NYC BUNS fame. He is famous for other things as well ... but let's face it -- it was the buns that attracted me! This hoodie gets the BEST looks in the state of Ohio! Check out his Instagram and YouTube for bunny care and tips... and of course, his buns.

Thank-you, Todd! I've already started to wear it out. It's SO SOFT! Did I mention it was SOFT?

GET ME A FORK, I'M STARVING
Chopsticks! I don't know how to use 'em -- but RABBITS! I love these and this has become a part of my "RABBIT ALTAR."
It seemed appropriate. I don't know why.

HAPPY BUNNY
This happy rabbit looks insane. That is one happy (or psychotic) rabbit. I prefer to think, "psychotic." I love him!

CHARMED, I'M SURE!
I absolutely love these little charms! One being a silver bunny -- the other golden rabbit ears! They are like a mini golden crown. I was so touched by the thought. There has to be a tale somewhere about THE GOLDEN RABBIT EARS.

GET TO WORK!
Here is the most practical gifting I have received. These are my favorite markers for art! I have a huge project I should be working on and am actually in need of these. How awesome that someone thought of me!

Perhaps it is a cosmic hint to get busy. I HAVEN'T -- but at least it is an incentive.

CAW!
Ravens and Crows have always been a significant symbol for me. My own daughter (who far surpasses me as an artist), dropped by with this one day! I was so excited!

Oddly enough, a group of ravens recently gave me hope. I was hiking on a mountain in Tennessee.
I quickly learned that I am not much of a hiker. In fact, I would have rather tossed myself over the mountain path and took chances with the rapids below.

Then ... I heard the ravens and knew humanity was near. (They hang around human picnickers).
There is a great Bible story about Ravens feeding Elijah in his time of need. My ravens were feeding themselves but at least were saying, "I CAN SEE YOUR CAR! I CAN SEE YOUR CAR!"

ALMOST A SEVERED HEAD
A BUNNY DECORATED SKULL! You can't get much more unique than THIS. I keep this goodie out where everyone can see it because of this! I was appreciative of the artist's acknowledgement of my awareness of mortality while still managing to communicate I have rabbits on the brain. It is a rather dichotomous image on the surface.

I AM QUEEN
THE TIARA -- The skull is simply a model. I have hardly taken this thing off since I received it! (Again, the tiara, not the skull). I have been asked if it were my birthday on several occasions.
The answer I have settled on is: "No, it is not my birthday. But I earned this."

So there you have it. The eclectic giftings I have received via The United States Postal Service.
My mailman must think I am nuts.
